Hi! Welcome to my online blog of what's new in books and media for children. This website is designed for students, parents, and teachers as a resource for staying connected to the library. My goal is to promote family literacy and encourage lifelong reading.

SHA Word Cloud
At the Web2.0 Tools for Teachers workshop on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, all of the Lower School Teachers made a list of words that came to mind when they thought of Web2.0 tools. After compiling their lists, I went to wordle.com to create a word cloud. I can see which words showed up the most frequently in teachers' lists by looking at the largest words in the picture. Wordle is a fast, easy, and free tool.

Legend of The Guardians : The Owls of Ga Hoole - Official Trailer 2 [HD]
"Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga Hoole" is coming to theaters this Friday. The book was written by one of my most favorite authors, Kathryn Lasky! I'm hoping to first read the book before I watch the movie which comes out this Friday!

Digital Storytelling
While browsing Twitter, I found this wonderful Web2.0 tool on digital storytelling called Storybird.com . Parents, students, and teachers can check out these digital books as well as create their own stories through Storybird! It's simple and it's free. Here are two stories that I enjoyed and wanted to share with all of you. Maybe if I finish writing a book, I will share it on a future blog ;) We shall see!
