Grades 4-6 Nene Award

http://www.sacredhearts.org/news/selecting-their-choice-nene-award

(Original article can be found at the link above)
Founded in 1964, the Nene Award Ceremony is like the “children’s choice awards” for favorite book in Hawai’i. And, each year, almost 6,000 students in grades four to six vote for their favorite fiction book.
This year, Academy students, Jade Unabia and Amanda-Joy Lee, received Honorable Mention for their video entry in the Nene student contests.
Unabia was joined by classmate Abigail Yagi as emcees at the 2013 Nene ceremony on April 18 at the Okinawan Center, attended by about 700 students, teachers, librarians and parents from across the state.
In addition, the duo met Jacqueline Davies, a national bestselling children’s author and a 2012 Nene Award winner for her book “The Lemonade War,” and learned more about the process of becoming an author.
